Word to XML Conversion Services & Technologies

Whiplash Technology provides a full range of legacy Microsoft Word document conversion services. We have experience converting Word documents to XML, HTML, WordML, and DocBook. Most legacy Word files are "semi-structured" to unstructured documents that may require some level of retrofitting before conversion to XML. We have worked with many of our clients to help in this cleanup process.

We also offer the following XML conversion and custom XSLT stylesheet services:

> Convert Word to XML
> Convert Word to HTML
> Convert XML to Word
> Convert DocBook to Word/WordML
> Convert Word to DocBook
> Develop custom XSLT stylesheets

Common Word Document Structure Problems

"Fake" Word Tables: Tables were formatted using the tab key and space key to align data in columns. Applying Word's table features can help with this issue.

Inconsistent Paragraph Formatting: Word provides a large selection of paragraph heading and numbering options for creation of complex documents with nested paragraphs. Unfortunately, paragraph styles are used haphazardly, especially when editing existing files. We can help customers apply consistent paragraph styles to their Word documents.

Cross References & Links: Many times documents contain references to specific pages ("see chart on page 6") or links to other documents. We can help enable accurate linking to both explicit and implicit references.

Headers, Footers, and Footnotes: Formats for these items can vary widely. We can help ensure that headers, footers, and footnotes are converted properly.
